Works On Paper
Paper as Medium
October 7 - 21, 2023
Paper is a cornerstone of art and civilization. It can hold the greatest of value and the least in our society. Our laws, Constitution and currency are printed on paper, then we also line the bottom of birdcages and wipe our bums with it! It is most often the starting point for creating artwork but is too often undervalued for the great work that is made upon it.
The Works On Paper exhibition celebrates paper as a medium used in many art forms. Painting, drawing, prints, photos, collage, mixed media, books and more are all represented in this show which focuses on the many ways paper is used to make fine art. This exhibition captures the versatile, tactile, sensual, intimate and individual experience that paper can evoke.
Opening Reception :: October 7, 6 – 10 pm

“Paper had its beginnings sometime around AD 105 in China and has become a staple in many facets of our lives. But if you can’t look beyond paper’s basic uses such as a writing surface, advertisement materials, product packaging, or books, then you’re blinding yourself to the beauty of paper as an artistic medium.” - Sean Danielle
